Someone’s future should be determined by their talent and determination, not their socio-economic background and at Crowe, as part of our social value programme, we are committed to developing a workplace where everyone can progress their career.

Research reflects that people from a low socio-economic background are disadvantaged comparatively to those from a high socio-economic background when it comes to their careers, including work experience and internship opportunities, fair pay, and accessing higher professional occupation roles.

At Crowe, our work in this area is driven through four strands:

Awareness

Highlighting and examining prevalent themes and topical updates while developing training aimed to reduce bias.

Volunteering

Partnering with external organisations supporting communities/individuals and upskilling our people.

Data

Examine recruitment, retention, and development patterns as well as areas that might need intervention.

Communications

Sharing regular impactful content to demonstrate what is being done and what still needs to be done.

Access Accountancy

Access Accountancy is a collaboration of more than 25 organisations and professional bodies dedicated to improving access to, and progression within, the accountancy profession in the UK.

Breaking Down Barriers

The Breaking Down Barriers to Accountancy action plan was launched in Parliament on 1 April 2025, bringing together accountancy firms, education institutions, wider stakeholders and policymakers.

RISE

We are a partner of RISE, the social mobility initiative created by the ICAEW.This UK wide initiative is aimed at students at a range of school ages, from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, to learn and gain skills that are important in
the workplace.

We are partnered with The 93% Club which has the purpose of bringing together thousands of like-minded individuals across the country to break down the structural barriers to social mobility.
