Budget 2027 Malaysia tax updates, economic outlook and policy announcements

As cost of living and business expenses remain a concern, Budget 2027 focuses on household financial well-being and Malaysia’s competitiveness. It seeks to balance immediate support for the Rakyat with investment in longer-term growth, while continuing fiscal reforms.

Under the theme “Menggapai di Langit, Mengakar di Bumi” (Reaching for the Skies, While Anchored on Our Values), Budget 2027 combines targeted tax relief and social assistance with incentives for business investment. Support for digitalisation, artificial intelligence and green technology aims to build a more productive and sustainable economy.

For businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), proposed tax reductions and wider financing access offer opportunities to strengthen cash flow and invest in growth. For households, enhanced personal tax reliefs, housing incentives and targeted assistance aim to ease financial pressures.

Eligibility requirements and effective dates will determine how these measures apply, with further clarity to follow through legislation and implementation guidelines.

This newsletter presents the key highlights of Budget 2027 and Crowe Malaysia’s perspective on their practical implications, helping you assess what the changes could mean for your business and personal finances, allowing you to plan ahead with confidence.
