Crowe advised the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust, the shareholder of specialist healthcare and life sciences consultancy practice, Lexica, on the sale of the business to global professional services firm WSP.
Born out of the NHS in 2014 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Trust, Lexica has grown into the UK's leading dedicated healthcare and life sciences strategic consultancy practice. Specialising in healthcare strategy and planning, project and programme management, life sciences strategy, digital transformation and net-zero consultancy, Lexica brings a team of over 100 UK-based experts into WSP to form a new dedicated Healthcare and Life Sciences Advisory discipline in WSP.
The acquisition of Lexica expands WSP’s well-established presence in the healthcare sector and follows the firm’s recent appointment as a consortium partner to the joint venture on the NHS’s New Hospitals Programme.
Crowe acted as lead adviser to Guy’s and St Thomas’s Enterprises Limited, the shareholder of Lexica. The team was led by Matteo Timpani who was supported by Charlie Copp and Charlie Breese.
"It was a pleasure to work with Matteo and Charlie on this project. It was a challenging market which resulted in a much longer timescale than initially envisaged and Crowe, as well as being patient, demonstrated an excellent understanding of the possible financial and trade investors for Lexica. The complexity of selling a public sector-owned business was well understood, and the Crowe team successfully guided the process throughout, with the Trust delighted with the outcome."
