Alex Hindson 16-9

The industry veteran joins Crowe from Argo Group, where he was Chief Risk and Sustainability Officer, a role in which Alex pioneered industry-leading approaches to create sustainability strategies. He was recognised by The Insurer magazine for this work in strategy-building, and integrating sustainability thinking into organisation-wide governance and core management processes, receiving the publication’s inaugural ‘Outstanding Achievement in ESG’ award in 2022.

Amassing more than 30 years of experience, Alex has also previously worked at AstraZeneca, Aon and Amlin, in a variety of risk management, consulting and governance roles. He has also acted as a non-executive director for non-profit organisations, including as board chairman.

Together with the existing Risk Consulting team, Alex will apply this industry experience to help clients across all sectors with their net zero transition, sustainability strategy development and implementation, risk and governance enhancement, data and scenario modelling plus reporting and disclosure requirements. He will also drive Crowe’s own sustainability programme.

The coming years present a number of opportunities for organisations that are proactively addressing sustainability to make a difference in the world. Crowe is well-positioned to assist leadership teams and boards in establishing the right strategies and programmes that consider their stakeholder expectations, regulatory and reputational risk areas while making commercial sense for the long-term future of the organisation.

Aside from being awarded the ‘Outstanding Achievement in ESG’ award by The Insurer, Alex led the team recognised with the ‘Diversity Initiative of the Year’ at the 2022 InsuranceERM Americas Risk Management Awards and also received the ‘ESG Annual Award’ from CIR Magazine in November 2021.

I look forward to working with Alex to provide support and advice to our clients as they tackle the practical challenges of climate and ESG considerations, helping them to build sustainable businesses that can respond to, and benefit from, change and uncertainty.

Justin Elks, Head of Risk Consulting

The strength of the consulting team at Crowe was a big attraction for me and I am eager to start working with them in what will be an important year for sustainability issues. Helping clients on their sustainability journeys really is more crucial than ever, at a time where the spotlight is so firmly on ESG and being able to credibly substantiate your organisation’s credentials.

Alex Hindson, incoming Head of Sustainability

Alex’s appointment is a great addition to our award-winning team. This not only ensures clients continue to receive top-tier service in pursuit of their sustainability goals, but also supports our own firm’s sustainability objectives to help make a difference in the world, as well as our commitment to attracting and retaining the best talent. I look forward to seeing the team continue to grow as we move into the new year.
