Partner, Tax Disputes and Investigations
London

I am a Partner in the Tax Disputes and Investigations team at Crowe UK. I am a problem solver with extensive experience in helping clients resolve disputes with HMRC.

I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, the CIOT’s Management of Taxes Committee, and HMRC’s Offshore Forum.

I advise on all aspects of tax dispute resolution and investigations. My work covers contentious tax matters, including fraud investigations, statutory enquiries, technical disputes with HMRC, and voluntary disclosures. With HMRC’s continued focus on offshore matters, a significant proportion of my cases involve overseas assets, Trusts and complex structures.

I am also a regular author on the management of tax issues, including HMRC powers and taxpayer safeguards, for leading professional publications, including Taxation and Tax Adviser.

What I Do

  • HMRC tax investigations, statutory enquiries, technical dispute resolution and other HMRC challenges under Self-Assessment
  • COP9 fraud investigations under the Contractual Disclosure Facility and COP8 investigations
  • Voluntary disclosures under the Worldwide Disclosure Facility (WDF) and the Let Property Campaign (LPC)
  • Discovery assessments, penalties and appeals against HMRC decisions
  • Representations to HMRC and the tax tribunal, including settlement negotiation and penalty mitigation

My Clients

  • Individuals and sole-traders
  • High net worth individuals
  • Directors and shareholders
  • Trustees, beneficiaries and settlors of UK and offshore Trusts
  • Taxpayers with overseas assets or structures
  • Professional advisers
