Khalid Mehmood

Khalid is a senior professional who has more than 30 years of experience in audit & assurance management.  Currently he is based in DIFC office and is Audit Principal and Senior Officer.

• Define and implement the firm’s audit and assurance strategy aligned with the UAE market dynamics, regulatory environment, and firm growth objectives. Lead initiatives to expand the firm’s audit practice in the UAE and GCC region.
• Cultivate and sustain long-term relationships with prominent clients across diverse sectors including banking, finance, real estate, construction, government, and family offices. Act as a trusted advisor to key clients on complex financial and regulatory issues.
• Oversee and deliver high-quality audit and assurance services compliant with International Standards on Auditing (ISA), DFSA/DIFC regulations and other relevant regulatory requirements. Ensure timely completion of audits while maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of UAE Central Bank regulations, Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) guidelines, DFSA regulations, and other local compliance requirements. Ensure the firm’s adherence to all applicable laws and standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of audit professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, ethical conduct, and continuous professional development. Promote a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Implement robust quality control procedures to ensure audits are performed to the highest standards. Identify and mitigate risks related to audit quality, regulatory compliance, and client relationships.
• Drive growth of the audit and assurance division through strategic market positioning, networking, and leveraging relationships with local regulators, industry associations, and key stakeholders. Pursue opportunities for new engagements and cross-selling services.
• Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in all professional activities.  He is also Ethics Partner of Crowe UAE.

Khalid has been with Crowe for the last 25 years.  He is a licensed Auditor from the UAE Ministry of Economy.  He also worked in industry as CFO for listed companies in Pakistan in his previous engagements.  Khalid has strong knowledge of IFRSs, ISAs and other regulatory regulations.  He is endeavored to uphold the highest standards of qualify and professional standards in audit and assurance.
