In this fourth episode, Paulo Lourosa welcomes Luís Bessa Mendes, founder of Seestem Operators and a professional with more than two decades of experience in private equity, management, and SME investment in the Iberian Peninsula.
Throughout his career, he has participated in around 20 transactions involving small and medium-sized companies, with an aggregate value exceeding 250 million euros. He has also accumulated experience as chairman or board member in several portfolio companies.
In recent years, he decided to take a different path: he embraced the entrepreneurship through acquisition model, aiming to acquire a company to manage. His focus is mainly on family-owned businesses with growth potential, preserving the founders’ legacy while accelerating their professionalization and expansion. An excellent perspective on company acquisition, leadership in transition contexts, and long-term value creation.
In this conversation, we explore Luís’s journey from traditional private equity to the search fund model, understand how he identifies companies to acquire, and how he plans to navigate the process leading up to the acquisition of the selected business.
