The Portuguese government has measures that may help companies, when hiring young or long-term unemployed people. Crowe gives support to submit applications to these measures:
• ATIVAR.PT Internships – 2nd application period between September 15th and November 30th, 2023
Internships lasting 9 months, non-extendable, with a view to promoting the incorporation of young people in the job market work or professional retraining of unemployed people.
In order to apply to this measure, people must have concluded their studies in the previous 3 years. Some other conditions may be applicable for long-term unemployed candidates.
Contribution: 65% to 80% of the internship. • AVANÇAR Program – Support to permanent contracts with salaries higher than 1330 euros to people registered as unemployed in IEFP (unemployment center) with a high-level academic qualification.
Financial support:a) 18 times the value of the social support index (IAS)* for applications submitted during the years of 2023 and 2024 b) 12 times the value of the IAS, for applications submitted during the year 2025 c) 10 times the IAS value, for applications submitted during the year 2026 (*) - The IAS amount is now stablished at 480,43 € (year 2023). • Social Security exemption – employer contributions – when hiring employees (first permanent contract and long-term unemployed people) Financial support: - Partial exemption of 50% of the employer’s contributions for a 5-year period to employees that had their first permanent contract in their career; - Partial exemption of 50% of the employer’s contributions for a 3-year period to employees that were people registered as unemployed in IEFP for more than 12 months; - Total exemption of the employer’s contributions for a 3-year period to employees that were people registered as unemployed in IEFP for more than 25 months, having more than 45 years of age.
