In addition to serving as Executive Partner at Crowe Advisory – SaeR, José Poças Esteves is the Chief Executive Officer of SaeR – Strategic Evaluation and Risk Society, and a Non-Executive Director at the international rating agency ARC Ratings.
He holds a degree in Finance from ISEG and is a member of both the Portuguese Institute of Statutory Auditors and the Portuguese Economists Association. He is also Honorary President of the ECR (Efficient Consumer Response) Forum Portugal. His academic background includes a Master Class in Strategic Change from Oxford University – Templeton College and a Master Class in E-Business from the London Business School.
He was a Partner in Audit Services and Managing Partner of Consulting Services at Coopers & Lybrand Portugal. Following the merger, at PricewaterhouseCoopers, he served as Managing Partner for Strategy and Change Services, as well as for the Industry and Commerce Business Areas, and was a member of the International Management Board for the EMEA Mediterranean Cluster.
As one of the key figures behind the launch of SaeR – Strategic Evaluation and Risk Society, he co-led the company alongside Professor Ernâni Lopes (its founder), overseeing the areas of Geopolitics and Foresight, and leading the Strategy, Competitiveness, and Risk divisions. He was Chairman of the Board of CPR – Companhia Portuguesa de Risco, where he spearheaded its transformation into the international rating agency ARC Ratings, serving as its CEO until 2015.
His professional experience includes leading restructuring and development projects across several key sectors of the Portuguese economy, such as Consumer Goods/Retail, Tourism, the Blue Economy, Urban Development, among others. He has also conducted comprehensive evaluations and end-to-end business plans for various companies and investment projects. He is the author or co-author of several publications on the Portuguese economy and business landscape.
