Choosing where to start your career is a big decision and recruitment season can feel overwhelming. Our recruiters meet hundreds of students every year, and while every journey is different, many of the same questions come up again and again.

This page brings together our most common recruitment tips, FAQs, and advice to help you feel informed, confident, and prepared at every stage of the process.

How can I increase my chances of getting an interview?

One of the biggest factors is connection.

Attending recruitment events, information sessions, and firm tours gives you the opportunity to:

  • Meet our team and learn about our culture
  • Ask thoughtful questions
  • Show genuine interest in our firm

Just as important: be yourself. We’re not looking for rehearsed answers or perfect profiles. Authentic conversations leave a lasting impression and help us get to know you beyond your résumé.

Do I need to attend recruitment events to be considered?

Recruitment events are not mandatory, but they are strongly encouraged.

Events give you insight into who we are, how our teams work, and what a career at Crowe BGK could look like. They also allow us to meet you in a more relaxed setting than a formal interview.

Meeting our people helps you better understand the firm and helps us put a face to your application. Your best chance of success comes from building genuine connections and showing up as yourself.

Think of events as conversations, not evaluations.

What should I talk about at recruitment events?

There’s no script to follow. The best conversations are natural and genuine.

Some great starting points include:

  • What you’re studying and what you enjoy most
  • What areas of accounting interest you (audit, tax, advisory, etc.)
  • The type of work environment where you thrive
  • Questions about team structure, growth, or mentorship

You don’t need to impress. Curiosity goes further than polished answers.

What does the recruitment timeline look like?

While timelines may vary slightly year to year, recruitment generally follows a clear structure: (the below reflects the 2026 recruitment season)

  • March 9th - 25th: Recruitment events and office visits
  • March 25th: Application submission deadline
  • March 26th - 29th: CV review period
  • March 30th - April 10th: Interviews and verbal offers
  • April 6th - 17th: Written offers and acceptance deadline

Understanding the timeline helps you focus on what matters at each stage and reduces unnecessary stress.

What makes a cover letter stand out?

The most memorable cover letters are personal.

We encourage you to:

  • Reference a conversation you had with a team member
  • Explain what genuinely drew you to Crowe BGK
  • Share a short story or experience that sparked your interest

Avoid repeating your CV. Instead, use your cover letter to show motivation, personality, and fit.

What makes an application stand out overall?

Clarity and authenticity matter more than perfection.

A strong application typically includes:

  • A clear, well-structured CV
  • A concise cover letter showcasing your own voice
  • A genuine explanation of why you’re interested in our firm

You don’t need complex language or buzzwords. We want to understand you.

Do grades matter?

Grades are one part of the picture, but they are not everything.

We take a holistic view of your application, including:

  • Work experience
  • Extracurricular involvement
  • Leadership, and
  • How you communicate your story in your cover letter.

If your grades aren’t perfect, don’t panic. Focus on showing growth, balance, and commitment in other areas of your application.

What do recent hires wish they knew before applying?

A common theme we hear from recent hires is this:

You don’t need to have everything figured out.

Many students hesitate to apply because they feel they’re not “ready.” Growth happens on the job, through learning, mentorship, and experience. Asking questions early and staying open-minded can make all the difference.

What happens after I submit my application?

Once applications close, our team carefully reviews each submission.

Selected candidates are invited to interviews, which are designed to be conversational, not intimidating. Verbal offers may follow interviews, with written offers issued shortly after.

No pressure is placed on candidates to accept offers before the official deadlines.

How should I prepare for interviews?

Instead of memorizing answers, focus on:

  • Understanding your own experiences and achievements
  • Preparing thoughtful questions for your interviewers
  • Learning about Crowe, reflecting on your experiences, and
  • Being ready to talk about why this opportunity interests you and why

Think about examples where you worked in a team, handled a challenge, or learned something new. Most importantly, be yourself. We want to get to know the real you.

Remember: Interviews are a two-way conversation. They’re an opportunity for you to see if Crowe BGK is the right fit for you.
