Niamh O'Grady - tax manager Crowe Ireland

Niamh O’Grady

Manager, Tax

We take five minutes to have a quick virtual watercooler catch up with Niamh O’Grady to find out how she is using lockdown to learn new skills and what her guilty pleasure is!

Briefly, tell us about your career to date.

Well, I started my training contract with Crowe in 2014 and completed my ACA and ITI exams in 2018/2019. I’ve been with Crowe seven years this summer and am a manager in the tax department.

Why Crowe?
At the time of my training contract I wanted somewhere I could get exposure to all the different taxheads. For me the firm in general was the perfect balance. Seven years later, it’s about the people. We are extremely lucky in the tax department that the partners are so approachable and supportive of us.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
The variety of the work and the people. I have made really good friends during my time here.

Give me three words that describe Crowe’s culture
Progressive, challenging and social.

What is the best advice you have received and from whom?

My parents would always advise me to be honest, frank and be open.

What has been your lockdown take way experience?
From a work perspective, it’s been about learning how to log off when your home is your office. Self-care is not self-indulgent. And slippers/sliders are appropriate work footwear!

What have you really missed because of lockdown?
Going home to Galway for a weekend, dinner and drinks with friends and a Penneys haul!

What’s your hidden talent?

During lockdown I started back playing piano and learning Irish so hopefully they’ll be two talents by the time this is all over.

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Any music by any boyband – returning to the office will be hard without Westlife playing in the background every day.

What has been your favourite TV show during lockdown?
Me and my housemates are watching Game of Thrones at the moment.

We are hiring! Crowe’s tax team is looking to find a talented and ambitious person to fill our tax manager job vacancy.
