Students of the Society of Boys’ Centres Expressing Gratitude

7/9/2018

As a responsible and caring corporate citizen, we care about education of the young generation. Over the years, we have been supporting various children and teenagers education activities. In 1998, we set up a scholarship & development fund. The fund aims to sponsor teaching staff and students to participate in different educational and development programs which help widen their horizons. The Society of Boys’ Centres (“SBC”) is the main beneficiary of our scholarship & development fund. Our Director Ms Pammy Fung has been representing our company to serve as voluntary advisor of SBC since 2002.

Recently while she was having a meeting with other SBC Executive Committee members, a group of SBC student representatives came and sent thank you card to express their gratitude for the sponsorships from our scholarship & development fund, which provided opportunities to SBC’s teaching staff and students to participate in overseas exchange activities and broaden their horizons.

Besides, a roasted pig cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of renovation for SBC’s Chak Yan Centre, which was established in 1974. Since 1998, it has provided residential service and after school care program. The Centre has 166 residential placements to boys at the age of 8 to 14. To enhance the services, Chak Yan Centre started renovation since November 2017. Renovation works included replacing or repairing various facilities in living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and toilets etc. After the renovation, the Centre will provide a better study and living environment to the students.

SBC is a special education organization which provides education and residential services to children and teenagers who have special emotional and behavioral needs, helping them to reintegrate into mainstream schools. During the past 20 years, we have contributed over $4 million to the scholarship & development fund to sponsor SBC’s education activities, including study and exchange tours, anti-drug activities, first aid courses, mountain craft training, make-up courses, parent’s workshops, and professional development conferences for teaching staff etc. Through these activities, the teaching staff can enhance their professional knowledge, and students can develop positive attitudes which help them to reintegrate into the society.
