Howard Zerker is a Consultant in the Audit & Advisory Group at Crowe Soberman. Not a stranger to the firm, Howard re-joined the firm in 2010, 26 years after beginning his chartered accountancy career at Crowe Soberman in 1984. He has since attained many years of experience having formed and managed his own practice for more than 17 years. Most recently, Howard was at a smaller independent firm, where he was a partner for five years.

Howard consults with clients ranging from small to mid-sized family-owned businesses to multi-million dollar corporations. While he provides his expertise in a wide range of industries, his areas of specialty are in the information technology (IT), entertainment, sports and media (television and film productions), and privately-held business sectors.

Howard also has extensive experience in and works closely with not-for-profit organizations, professionals and commercial real estate leasing companies.

The former technology partner at his previous firm, Howard has a strong IT background that allows him to guide his clients in software selection by providing viable options and direction for technology initiatives. Howard likes to take a hands-on approach with clients. His advice is something they have come to appreciate and depend on. “I’d like to think that clients can approach me on any given task. If I don’t know something, I will make sure I figure out a way to do it.”

When he is not in the office, Howard devotes much of his time as the Treasurer of the Foundation for Public Policy Development. The mission is to monitor and report on the fulfillment of Canadian human rights law.

What can clients expect you to deliver?

"We listen to our clients, we are responsive to our clients, we try to deliver things on as timely basis as possible, as quickly as possible and I think, by and large, we do a really good job at it. It's a challenge given short timelines to deal with things, but responsiveness is key and we're very good at that."
