Senior Associate, Insolvency, Restructuring and Forensic Accounting Group

Our Vancouver office is seeking a full-time Senior Associate to join our growing IRFA Group.
The ideal candidate is ambitious, naturally curious, has a keen interest in problem solving, an eye for detail, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
We welcome interest from candidates that are near completion of their CPA designation or recently completed their designation.
At Crowe MacKay & Company Ltd., our client-centric team of strategic advisors is looking to add new talent to our IRFA practice. You will be an integral part of our knowledgeable team and will work at the forefront of prominent and interesting transactions.
As a Senior Associate, you will work directly with the IRFA Group to ensure our firm’s continued growth within our market where we maintain a reputation for quality service and results.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of insolvency including bankruptcy and restructuring, CCAA, receivership, and liquidation engagements.
- Assist with forensic accounting and litigation support engagements.
- Advise on current insolvency laws and practices.
- Be involved in the ongoing management of personal and corporate insolvency engagements (including acting as Trustee, Receiver, Liquidator, or Monitor in the context of both private and court-appointed engagements).
- Assist troubled companies, lenders, creditors, shareholders, and other stakeholders through the course of financial reviews, business turnarounds, financial restructuring (formal or informal), bankruptcies, and liquidations.
- Conduct ongoing communications with debtors, creditors, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy, and the Courts through creditor meetings, reports, attendance at Court, etc.
- Identify, target, and develop referral sources.
- Assist with practice development assignments.
- Travel to other offices and off-site locations as required.
Qualifications – Required
- Pursuing, or have recently completed, a Canadian CPA designation.
- Interest in pursuing a designation as a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) and a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT).
- Experience developing and working with cash flow models with strong business modelling skills and experience.
- Proven capabilities in problem solving, negotiation, and decision making.
- Solid understanding of financial statements.
- Technical ability in conducting financial analysis.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
- Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.
- Exemplify self-motivation and strong work ethic.
- Able to prioritize with the flexibility to manage workload demands and multiple tasks as required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications – Desired
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of insolvency rules, laws, and procedures.
- Good working knowledge of Ascend software.
