Crowe MacKay LLP’s Kelowna office is seeking a qualified full time Senior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be a designated accountant, public practice career-focused individual who is excited to join a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial firm wanting to further develop their accounting and taxation skills. The available Senior Accountant position will be a progressive position with opportunities for professional development and advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements
  • Prepare financial statements and corresponding notes
  • Prepare and/or review personal and corporate tax returns
  • Prepare year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s)
  • Apply knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies/ irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
  • Respond to client questions and queries
  • Raise identified technical issues with manager or engagement partner
  • Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements
  • Prepare professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from the client engagement
  • Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines
  • Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client management
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Crowe MacKay’s services, businesses and industry
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Raise awareness of Crowe MacKay in the community 
  • Lead engagement teams while coaching and mentoring junior team members
     

Qualifications

  • CPA designation
  • Sound knowledge of the CPA Canada Handbook, review procedures, and tax compliance
  • 2+ years’ experience in public accounting
  • Familiar with CaseWare, Microsoft Office, and Tax Prep 
  • An innovative thinker, comfortable in a team and client-focused environment
  • Self-starter, able to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, technical, and communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail
  • Able to interact with clients, co-workers, Managers, and Partners
  • Able to prioritize workloads, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Values teamwork, client/customer service, professionalism, community involvement, personal and professional growth
