With an emphasis on tax planning and implementation, immigration and emigration tax strategies, cross-border structures, and foreign investments, Matthew is continually reassessing his clients’ tax position to ensure tax payments are kept low and client satisfaction stays high. He is renowned in the lower mainland for his expertise in international tax matters, as well as corporate reorganizations and the purchase and sale of businesses. Matthew is often sought after for his opinions on the tax consequences of mergers and acquisitions, his assistance with dispute resolutions with Canada Revenue Agency, and for assisting his Canadian clients with claiming Scientific Research and Experimental Development tax credits (SR&ED).
He has been operating a full-time income tax practice since 1988 and while some accountants take a “see you next year” approach with their clients’ taxes, Matthew does the opposite. Fluent in Cantonese, Matthew has been working with his overseas clients, especially those from Hong Kong, to assist them in developing strategies for expanding and relocating their businesses and investments to Canada.
