John Laratta

With over 38 years in public practice, John brings a wealth of experience in audit, accounting, income tax, and consulting. He supports clients across both private and public sectors, offering strategic guidance on accounting operations, tax planning, and financial systems implementation. His consulting expertise includes program evaluations, budget development, training delivery, and operational reviews—ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.

John has led numerous large and complex audits and is known for his ability to navigate intricate financial landscapes with precision. His special consulting engagements often involve system evaluations, controls reviews, and process improvements that drive organizational performance.

Prior to joining Crowe MacKay LLP, John held senior leadership roles in government and education. As Director of Government Accounting for the Government of the Northwest Territories (1993–1995), he oversaw financial reporting and operations. From 1986 to 1993, he served as First Vice President, Finance, at Arctic College, where he established foundational corporate and management systems.
