On March 11, 2019 Crowe BGK lost a partner, a mentor, and above all, a friend – Michael B. McCrann. May he rest in peace after his long and courageous battle against cancer.
Michael joined Crowe BGK in 2005 and was the man behind the milestone event of our firm establishing a presence in the Ottawa region. He built a practice and a team that were “Michael strong”. Clients were guided to make smart business decisions that led to valuable successes and his staff were coached to be client centric; delivering quality work in a timely fashion.
He had a low tolerance for nonsense and was eager to teach the nearly lost art of street sense. He also taught us that there are three meals in a day – simple opportunities to spend time with clients, prospects, staff, family or friends. And for those of us who had the privilege to be at the other side of the table; the experience was filled with laughter, joy, admiration and the desire to be one’s best. No matter under what circumstances you arrived at the table, you left with the instant desire to be Mike’s friend.
Michael’s passion and positive energy were infectious. He truly did what he loved and loved what he did; be it accounting, golfing or a well-deserved glass of Macallan. He was the family man that was a businessman and the businessman that was a family man. Either way, everyone felt they were his priority.
We are thankful to Michael for having been so dedicated and such a guiding light. While our hearts are suffering a great loss and we will miss him forever – his spirit continues within our firm, enabling us to keep calm and carry on.
