Systemwide improvements and enhancements

Authentication developments

The support for multifactor authentication via SMS/Voice Call for 2FA is no longer available. Users are required to reconfigure their settings and then switch to an authenticator app. Additionally, the support for Outbound Single Sign-on will be discontinued in nonproduction accounts, and it is planned for removal from production accounts starting with NetSuite 2024.2 Release.

Text Enhance feature

Text Enhance uses artificial intelligence (AI) to extract information from existing item fields and dynamically generates compelling descriptions for sales and purchasing. Users are presented with the option to choose whether to accept the AI-generated description or request a new one, providing a versatile tool that enhances the efficiency of description creation. Notably, Text Enhance offers a personalized touch to crafted descriptions and introduces a layer of flexibility to the user experience.

Favorites feature

Users can choose to label popular customers or items on Sales Orders as Favorites. These favorited items will be seen at the top of dropdown lists in a Sales Order for a more efficient selection.

This convenient feature displays favorited items at the top of dropdown lists, streamlining the selection process and enhancing overall efficiency in sales order creation.

Revenue Recognition Field Mapping enhancements

Functionality improvements

Enhancements to the Revenue Recognition Field Mapping functionality include new record and list pages. This enhancement allows users to create and map records tracked with system notes and includes all field maps with their relevant details.

For Revenue Recognition Field Mapping, additional optional fields include the transaction type to identify the type of transaction users would like to map, a custom form to connect the transaction type, and start and end dates to specify a date range. With these refinements, business owners can manage and access comprehensive field maps and relevant details, creating a more efficient and organized business environment.

Availability through CSV imports

Unlocking a new level of convenience, Revenue Recognition Field Maps can be imported through CSV. With the Advanced Revenue Management feature enabled, business users gain the ability to seamlessly map custom and standard fields to a variety of transaction column fields.

This user-friendly enhancement simplifies the mapping process and grants business owners greater flexibility and control over their revenue recognition strategies, contributing to a more agile and responsive business operation.

India updates

NetSuite 2024.1 Release introduces significant system compliance and capability changes to address local laws, acts, and regulations in various countries, with specific enhancements made for India.

SuiteTax, the tax reporting SuiteApp, facilitates the generation of reports essential for filing taxes. With this enhancement, users in India can access five GSTR-9 reports seamlessly integrated with NetSuite. These reports encompass crucial details such as inward and outward supplies, demand raised, taxes paid, refund claimed, and input tax credit.

4 key SuiteApp updates

The NetSuite 2024.1 Release presents additional updates to SuiteApps, including:

  • Enhancements in the Electronic Invoicing SuiteApp make workflows more flexible and efficient. Users can cancel outbound e-document statuses and reset them without reengaging the For Generation status, providing greater control over the invoicing process. This feature also allows users to bypass entering a purchase order (PO) number when changing a received e-document into a received vendor bill. With these improvements, users can create stand-alone vendor bills without the constraint of mapping them to specific POs, offering a more versatile and adaptable approach to invoice management. Additionally, when the recipient field of an e-document is blank, a notification can be sent to up to 10 administrators on the account notifying them of this potential defect.
  • The NetSuite Pay SuiteApp version 1.0.0 offers users the benefit of integrated payment processing for businesses, helping secure credit card transactions with industry-compliant data security measures and comprehensive tracking of the entire payment life cycle.
  • The Spain Localization SuiteApp version 1.5.0 formats SuiteTax-based reports to be machine-readable and improves user experience by incorporating visually appealing representations of Spain value-added tax reports, providing users with both efficiency and an aesthetically pleasing interface.
  • The Rebates and Trade Promotions SuiteApp version 2.1.1 includes its own internal IDs for custom records. This improvement addresses ongoing issues that might occur when the same internal ID is used on other SuiteApps.

Manufacturing improvements

Manufacturing Mobile updates

The Manufacturing Mobile SuiteApp designates certain components in a Costed Bill of Materials for automatic backflushing, eliminating the need to manually report consumption data for those components. When the production quantity is reported within the SuiteApp, those components can be issued automatically, saving time and effort and improving accuracy.

The latest update includes enhancements in error message handling and the functionality to scan and enter a product's universal product code. This refinement means users can record start and end times for a Work in Progress (WIP) Work Order (WO) operation step. The update also introduces new warnings and error messages with support for viewing work instructions from a mobile device, which are defined in the assembly routing.

Work Instructions and Traveler SuiteApp enhancements

Users can add specific instructions to a work order in the Additional Work Instructions subtab of a WO record, which is enabled when the WIP box is checked in the WO form.

The Work Instructions and Traveler SuiteApp report includes process notes and additional work instructions, which can support production line operators in need of an image or text reminder of the process while actively working on the shop floor. Finally, the Filter By section on the Generate Traveler page automatically collapses to better display filtered work orders.

Additional manufacturing updates

CSV Import for Work Orders as well as the ability to add a display name to transaction line tables are possible with the NetSuite 2024.1 Release. This update offers a smoother transition for any planned or in-process operations.

Inventory management updates

Quality Management enhancements

The NetSuite 2024.1 Release enhances the Quality Management SuiteApp, allowing for integration with the Advanced Manufacturing Tablet and enabling features like Skip Lot or Sampling. Users can preserve comprehensive quality results for each lot and serial number at the specification level.

The Enhanced Receipt Quarantine workflow can be initiated directly from the specification level quality status of each lot and serial number, eliminating the need for the quality administrator or manager to rely on related transactions with inventory. Users can plan inspections independently without being tied to scheduled or nonscheduled inventory quantities. This improvement offers flexibility for tasks like inspecting packing accessories before packing.

New enhancements also simplify compliance roles, preventing the generation of inspection queues with zero-quantity WO completion. The Certificate of Analysis function is equipped with a refined item filter for report generation, and it provides direct access from an item fulfillment transaction.

SCM Mobile enhancements

Supply chain management (SCM) users can search and filter Data Table elements using tags by column or table. Automatic clicking can also be set up for an Action Button element, allowing users to skip manual tapping for submission or to advance to another mobile page.

Data table element columns can display URLs for navigation or images from the file cabinet to reference external resources. Users can also choose to disable the Quantity and Units fields of a unit of measure page element, which then cannot be edited on the mobile app. Lastly, dynamic text can be displayed using a toggle instead of loading immediately during page load.

Taxation advancements

SuiteTax feature availability

When it was first introduced, the SuiteTax feature in NetSuite was a hidden feature which could only be shared to customers who received qualification. With the NetSuite 2024.1 Release, SuiteTax is available to everyone, but once this account-level feature is enabled, it cannot be reverted. Enabling SuiteTax might allow users to see potentially incompatible features. Prerequisites for enabling SuiteTax include Advanced Taxes, Accounting, Server SuiteScript, and Client SuiteScript.

Vendors, purchasing, and receiving enhancements

Bill Capture updates

The addition of filters for Vendor, Upload Source, and Email Source on the Scanned Vendor Bills page allows users to sort large numbers of uploaded bills more effectively. Additional fields are also coming to the Review Bill page to reduce the need to edit the bill post-creation. These new fields include Custom Segments, PO Number, Discount Date, Posting Period, and Memo at the header level and Custom Segments, Customer, Project Task, and a Billable checkbox at the line level.

Users might see more accurate bill classification, easier project organization, and more efficient bill creation. Finally, the Bill Capture Preferences page offers subtabs to categorize preferences, allowing a simpler approach to identify preferences.

PO improvements

An icon will appear for items and expenses to show potential POs that could be linked to a specific line. The ability to link a PO to a certain line is located in the PO popup window, which also includes Ordered Quantity, Received Quantity, and Billed Quantity details.
