Restrictions for Entry into Republic of Croatia

The Government of Croatia has introduced temporary restrictions effective as of 1 December 2020 for boarder transit and crossing.

I. Entrance into Republic of Croatia from EU and EEA

Persons entering Croatia from EU countries (including additional countries of: Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Lichtenstein) who are on the Green list of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control are permitted to enter Croatia without testing for COVID-19. If persons from the above countries have entered Croatia through other countries, they must provide proof that they did not reside nor stay long in other countries.

Persons who are entering Croatia from EU Countries (including additional countries of: Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Lichtenstein) and who are not on the Green list of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control may enter into Croatia if:
a) they provide proof of negative PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 (which has been taken in the time span of maximum 48 hours including time of taking sample), or
b) if they take PCR testing for SARS-CoV-2 immediately following entrance into Croatia (including that they go into self-isolation until they receive a negative result).

Exclusions are in effect for the following cases:

  • workers from Health/Medical industry,
  • cross boarder workers,
  • diplomats and persons from international organizations,
  • persons who are travelling due to urgent family or business reasons,
  • persons in transit (under conditions that they exit Croatia 12 hours following entrance into Croatia), etc.

II. Entrance into Croatia from Third Countries

EU/ EEA Member states, including persons with regulated residence within EU but who are entering Croatia from third countries may enter into Croatia if:
a) they provide proof of negative PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 (which has been taken in the time span of maximum 48 hours including time of taking sample), or
b) if they take PCR testing for SARS-CoV-2 immediately following entrance into Croatia and then go into self-isolation until they receive a negative result).

Third Country Citizens (who do not have regulated residence in EU) who are entering Croatia from third countries may enter Croatia if they are:

  • workers from Health/Medical industry,
  • cross boarder workers,
  • diplomats,
  • sailors*,
  • persons who are travelling due to urgent private/family/business reasons or who have additional economic interests*, etc.

*with providing proof of negative PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 (which has been taken in the time span of maximum 48 hours including time of taking sample) or take PCR testing for SARS-CoV-2 immediately following entrance into Croatia and then go into self-isolation until they receive a negative result.

The summarized restrictions for entrance into Croatia are in effect until 15 December 2020 with possibility for further extension.
