Crowe MacKay Welcomes Seven New Partners

Vancouver (January 1, 2024) - This year, Crowe MacKay welcomes partners from their Kelowna, Surrey, Vancouver, and Yellowknife offices. Congratulations to our newly elected partners, Kevin Kwan, effective October 1, 2023, and Jordan Day, Matt Thurber, Amrit Buttar, Colin Kirkpatrick, Deanna Stuart, and Charles Wilson, effective January 1, 2024, on achieving this career milestone.

Each of these individuals exemplifies the skills and qualities aligning with Crowe MacKay’s core values: We Care. We Share. We Invest. We Grow. This group serves as the newest leaders in northern and western Canada, serving as experts to both clients and Crowe team members.

Amrit Buttar, CPA, CGA

Amrit joined the Kelowna team in 2023. He brings 24 years of experience, knowledge, and relationships in public practice within the region. Amrit is passionate about business development, bringing his unique client offering to the Kelowna office. He has built deep client relationships by providing them unlimited access to strategic advice, annual tax filings, financial statement reporting, and integrated solutions for their long-term business and retirement goals. Amrit has extensive experience working with entrepreneurial clients in industries such as medical, dental, and legal professionals, as well as construction, manufacturing, and real estate groups. Amrit enjoys Kelowna's active lifestyle: skiing on the weekends, golfing in the summer, and spending time outdoors with his family.

Charles Wilson, CPA

Charles joined Crowe MacKay’s Kelowna office in the fall of 2016 after obtaining his CPA designation with a national firm. He has taught at the office’s Annual Income Tax Update seminar and is committed to providing care when teaching team members and clients. Charles provides taxation services to a variety of privately held corporations and individuals. His services include corporate and personal tax planning and succession planning, corporate reorganizations, purchases and sales, estate planning, and CRA dispute resolutions. Charles enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, with another baby due in the spring. He enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and, most of all, football. Charles is a Chicago Bears fan and enjoys travelling to different NFL stadiums. He is also an alumnus of the Okanagan Sun, Kelowna's Junior Football team, where he formerly played and served as director.

Colin Kirkpatrick, CPA, CA

Colin started with Crowe MacKay’s Kelowna office in 2010 as a co-op student, becoming a full-time team member in late 2011. With first-hand experience in Crowe’s student program, Colin’s led the CFE mentoring program in Kelowna from 2015 until 2022. He now looks forward to working with the Technology and Innovation Committee on new, exciting projects. Colin works primarily in audit and assurance, providing compliance and transaction-related services to various clients, placing high value on client relationships and understanding their needs. He is an avid traveller and recently returned from a three-week tour of Japan, where he had the opportunity to climb Mt.Fuji.

Deanna Stuart, CPA, CA

Deanna joined Crowe MacKay’s Surrey office in 2023, bringing over 25 years of experience in public practice. During that time, she established her public accounting firm. Deanna loves working with owner-managed businesses across diverse industries, focusing on construction and related services and not-for-profit organizations. She has assisted several not-for-profit entities in establishing and implementing sound policies and procedures. Deanna works closely with clients to understand their business and ensures a level of service that goes above and beyond expectations. Outside of business hours, you can catch Deanna cheering on her son at soccer games or embarking on adventures to discover new places.

Kevin Kwan, CPA, CA, CPA (Illinois)

Kevin joined Crowe MacKay’s Vancouver office in 2023, bringing years of professional experience providing audit and assurance services to publicly listed clients in industries including junior mining, oil and gas, real estate, and technology. In addition, he has experience assisting clients with significant transactions, prospectuses and other public filing documents, as well as complex accounting and regulatory issues. Kevin enjoys watching and playing sports outside work, spending time with his family, and travelling to sunny destinations.

Jordan Day, CPA

Jordan joined the Yellowknife office in April 2016, specializing in audit services and is actively engaged in various advisory projects across the northern region. His diverse client portfolio encompasses privately owned enterprises and not-for-profit organizations spanning multiple industries. Throughout his tenure at Crowe, Jordan has contributed to the Yellowknife office's success by training new and seasoned staff in audit, payroll, and financial reporting. Additionally, he's been involved with the firm-wide File Efficiency Committee for a handful of years. Beyond office doors, Jordan has a passion for travel and recently ventured across 18 European countries over two and a half months. He enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, cherishing it more when accompanied by his dog. His days as a hockey player are behind him, but Jordan remains active in volleyball and golf.

Matt Thurber, CPA, CA

Matt has been a valuable member of our Vancouver office for the past two years, contributing to business development through his involvement with the West Coast Office Growth Committee and enhancing the firm's assurance quality by participating in our internal monitoring processes. His professional focus extends to providing assurance services for both start-up and established technology clients, as well as serving clients in various other industries. Beyond his professional commitments, Matt is an avid podcast and audiobook enthusiast. In his personal time, he enjoys exploring the city with his three-year-old daughter and new baby twin daughters, embodying a well-rounded and balanced lifestyle.
