Truth & Reconciliation

Call to Action

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action, includes 94 calls to action for addressing the consequences of residential schools and promoting reconciliation in Canada. Call to Action #92 specifically challenges the corporate sector to adopt and integrate the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples into their policies and operations. This includes:

  • Engaging in meaningful consultations with Indigenous peoples, establishing respectful relationships and obtaining consent before initiating projects that impact their lands and resources.
  • Providing fair access to employment, training and education for Aboriginal peoples in the corporate sector ensuring they benefit sustainably from development projects.
  • Educating staff and management about the history of Aboriginal peoples, including residential schools, Indigenous rights and Aboriginal-Crown relations, emphasizing intercultural competency, conflict resolution and anti-racism.
