Kara Baldwin is a partner and the financial services audit leader at Crowe. She has more than 27 years of experience working with financial services organizations, including de novo banks, public and private bank holding companies ranging in size from $50 million to $50 billion in assets, credit unions, insurance companies, trust companies, and broker dealers.

Throughout her career, Kara has focused her efforts exclusively on the financial services industry, including significant experience with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) audits subject to Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) inspection. Her responsibilities include:

  • Leading the financial services audit group
  • Providing audits to SEC and private company clients
  • Developing audit quality standard updates
  • Speaking at national conferences and developing industry-focused thought leadership
  • Serving as the executive sponsor for recruiting at Indiana University

Prior to assuming her current role within the firm, her responsibilities at Crowe included:

  • Leading the financial services audit group in the Midwest region
  • Implementing audit approach changes in consideration of changing auditing standards and audit quality
  • Working with the firmwide Client Experience Committee to support excellent client service delivery
  • Participating on various task forces with the Center for Audit Quality related to PCAOB audit standards
  • Performing annual quality-control inspections
