CHICAGO (Nov. 14, 2019) – Crowe LLP, a public accounting, consulting and technology firm with offices around the world, was named to the Fortune Best Workplaces for Parents list for the fourth consecutive year. To compile this list, Great Place to Work® surveyed parents and nonparents, representing more than 4.6 million U.S. employees.

It may come as no surprise to many Crowe parents why the firm receives this recognition. Several drivers for the firm’s recurring placement on this list include:

  • Mobility policy: With the flexibility of choosing when to work in the office and when to work off-site, parents are often able to schedule around their children’s events.
  • Firm support: Crowe parents have shared they feel trusted and supported by their teams and leaders while taking advantage of the numerous benefits available.
  • Parental leave policy: The firm provides six weeks of full-paid time off for all new parents following the birth, adoption or act of custody of a child, plus an additional short-term disability period for birth mothers. Nearly 200 Crowe individuals used parental leave last fiscal year.
  • Adoption reimbursement: Crowe recognizes the financial impact of adoption and offers financial assistance for personnel who are adopting.

It took two years for Crowe tax professional Patrick Qualls and his wife to complete the adoption process and welcome home their new son Brody in September. According to Qualls, the Crowe well-being and benefit programs provided much-needed support as they split their time between Indianapolis, where Brody was, and their home in Elkhart, Indiana – about a three-hour drive.

“In fact, my wife ended up moving to Indianapolis during the process, so every Friday I would commute to Indianapolis to spend the weekend with her and Brody,” Qualls said. “If I wanted to stay a little longer, it was easy for me to go to the Crowe Indianapolis office or a nearby family member’s home to work. Not many places would allow me to work remotely and at odd hours to keep up. I don’t know that there is another team or firm out there that would have been as caring and flexible through this whole process.”

Now that Brody is finally in his new home, Qualls was able to take advantage of the firm’s fully paid six-week paternity leave, as well as the Crowe adoption reimbursement benefit.

According to Great Place to Work, the 2019 Best Workplaces for Parents list analysis focused on items such as parents' overall feedback compared to that of their colleagues, the level of support received as a parent, and the quality of parental leave, adoption, flexible schedule, child care and dependent healthcare benefits.
