Information Technology in the Global Metals Industry

Crowe, in collaboration with American Metal Market, launched its fourth annual survey to examine the role of information technology (IT) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in the global metals industry. The survey elicited responses from 177 highlevel executives at companies ranging in size from less than $50 million to more than $1 billion in annual revenue. The companies included mills, producers, processors, service centers, and scrap recyclers. The following pages present a summary of survey responses and provide a recent snapshot of the state of IT and ERP systems in the metals industry, including the strengths and weaknesses executives perceive in their current systems.
