CCPA: What we know now and what is coming soon

6/30/2020

Starting in July, the California Attorney General will begin enforcement of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). With public comments on the latest proposed regulations recently closed, final regulations will be forthcoming. Do you know what could be required of your organization?

And if you know already you will not need to comply directly with CCPA, there may be other privacy issues to consider. CCPA is only setting the bar for other states, which have increased their focus on data security and consumer privacy requirements. In addition, litigation attorneys are combing the internet for companies that do not appear to be in compliance. Now is the time to identify a strategic framework for managing consumer information that is in alignment with your company’s ethical philosophy.

By attending this webinar, you should be able to:

  • Describe current and expected requirements under CCPA as well as what may be next from states across the country
  • Identify “low hanging fruit” for increasing focus on data security and consumer protections
  • Outline next steps in three key areas:
    • Responding to consumer requests for information
    • Developing a strategic framework for managing consumer information
    • Articulating a clear and transparent privacy policy and how you may use collected data

Both consumers and regulators are demanding more of organizations when it comes to management and oversight of the data collected by companies. Join us to learn how you can build a firm foundation that sets you and your team up for success not only today but in the years ahead.
