Crowe welcomes BeLonG To for LGBTQ+ workshop
Chris Rowan from BeLonG To Youth Services delivers LGBTQ+ 101 Workshop to our employees.
Crowe was delighted to welcome Chris Rowan, Fundraising Officer with BeLonG To Youth Services, to deliver a thought-provoking and informative LGBTQ+ 101 Workshop to our employees.
BeLonG To Youth Services is the national organisation supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI+) young people in Ireland. Since 2003 they have worked with LGBTI+ young people to create a world where they are equal, safe and valued in the diversity of their identities and experiences.
Chris provided the over 75 staff attending with a really interesting and insightful introduction to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community. He gave an overview of the different language and terminology relating to sexuality and gender identity, provided a short background to the LGBTI+ movement in Ireland and outlined the range of challenges people in the community continue to face in our society.

Chris also shared several of his own stories and experiences of his personal journey as a gay man. He outlined how best to support any colleague, friend or family member that has the courage to come out and the wide range of supports available to the community.
The workshop provided a wonderful opportunity for our employees to broaden their knowledge and understanding of LGBTI+ topics and helped educate us all on how the workplace can continue to move towards being more inclusive for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people.
