Crowe staff supporting NCBI and those affected by sight loss
Losing your sight can be a frightening thing, “life changing” probably doesn’t sum it up. The tireless work that NCBI carries out each year to support adults and children affected by sight loss resonates with us at Crowe very deeply.
As part of the firm’s 2019/20 CSR community programme our staff wanted to lend our support in whatever way we could. In conjunction with NCBI, we developed a programme of volunteering where, under the expert tutorage of NCBI’s Karl Browne staff recorded a series of short stories.
The chosen book is “Midwife to the Fairies”, a collection of short stories by Eilis NiDhuibhne. In total nine staff volunteered to record these stories at NCBI’s recording studio in Finglas, Co. Dublin, adding an additional 3 hours of recordings to the 10 hours that staff recorded in 2018.
It has been a really positive and rewarding experience for our staff and one that we hope will encourage other Irish companies to lend their support to NCBI to help support all those affected by sight loss.

NCBI is is a not-for-profit charity which offers support and services to people of all ages who are experiencing difficulties with their eyesight.
As well as helping to increase awareness about sight loss issues on a national and local level, NCBI also helps people to access information and communicate through technology, provides training and resource centres for people to learn new skills, assists people with employment issues and provides a library stocked with large-print, audio and Braille books.
