Bridging cultures and taking initiative

IWD 2025 Diana

This month, we are celebrating the amazing women who are an integral part of Crowe Ireland. We are shining a spotlight on their outstanding accomplishments and recognising their commitment to accelerating action in their daily lives.

In this interview, we meet Diana Qian Wang, head of the China Desk and audit senior manager at Crowe. Diana shares professional insights on the importance of international collaboration. She discusses her motivation for taking action, emphasising how she pushes herself to seize opportunities and overcome challenges.

Tell us about yourself.

Hello everyone! My name is Diana Qian Wang, and I am an audit senior manager in Crowe. I was born in China and moved to Ireland in my teenage years. I’ve been studying, living and working here since then, and Ireland has become my home. Today, I’m excited to be part of this event to celebrate women’s achievements and discuss how we can accelerate progress together.

As a woman, what would you tell your younger self?

If I could speak to my younger self, I would tell her to:

  • Stop waiting for the “right time”—just go for it!
  • Jump in, then figure it out (Google exists for a reason).
  • Say yes, then panic later—confidence comes AFTER action, not before.
  • Perfection is a scam—done is better than perfect. (Even Wi-Fi buffers sometimes!)
  • Trust yourself—girl, you know what you’re doing (or at least act like it).
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Ask for that raise, job, or opportunity—the worst they can say is no, and then you’ll just pretend they don’t exist.

Who is a woman who inspires you?

A woman who truly inspires me is my mother. She is not only a mother but also a mentor, a life guide, and my biggest supporter. Despite leading a simple life like everybody else, her courage, resilience, and dedication—to her family, career, and values—have had a profound impact on me. She proves that greatness isn't about wealth or fame but about kindness, strength, and unwavering love. She reminds me that one person’s actions can create ripples of change, and her story continues to motivate me to push forward in my own journey to make a difference.

What does the theme of “Accelerate Action” mean to you and how is it visible in your life?

From a broader perspective, I am honoured to lead the Chinese desk at work, facilitating inbound and outbound opportunities. The spirit of "accelerated action" is held in common between the two nations who are working together faster than ever in trade, education, culture and technology.

Irish dairy and food products (like milk and cheese) are now very popular in China. At the same time, Chinese companies like Huawei have set up offices in Ireland, creating jobs and boosting the economy.

More Chinese students are studying in Irish universities, and Irish universities are partnering with Chinese schools for research projects.

Ireland is known for its tech industry, and Chinese tech giants like Pinduoduo, Tencent and Alibaba are investing in Irish startups. They also work together on green technology to fight climate change.

More Chinese tourists are visiting Ireland to see its beautiful landscapes, and Irish tourists are exploring China’s rich history and culture.

They are helping each other grow, sharing knowledge and building a stronger friendship. These examples highlight how they are accelerating their partnership for mutual benefit.

In personal life, alright, the theme of "Accelerate Action" is like when you’re binge-watching a show, and instead of saying, “I’ll finish this season tomorrow,” you’re like, “Nope, I’m staying up till 3 AM to see what happens!” It’s about speeding things up, not waiting around, and just going for it. It may not be an ideal example, but it happens in real life. It’s also like when you’re texting someone and instead of overthinking your reply for 30 minutes, you just hit send and hope for the best. Accelerating action is all about cutting through the “what ifs” and “maybes” and just doing the thing. Life’s too short to wait for the “perfect moment”—sometimes you just gotta hit the gas and see where the road takes you! 🚀

What inspires you to accelerate action each day?

Waiting around can feel like losing time, and sometimes you just have to take the plunge. I’ve seen how waiting too long or overanalysing can lead to missed opportunities. Whether it’s in personal growth, career, or relationships, taking action has always led me to greater experiences, learning, and success. The idea of accelerating action excites me because it means maximising potential and making things happen—rather than just thinking about them.

Recently, I wanted to learn a cool song on the piano. Before, I’d look at my piano and think, “One day, I’ll learn that song,” but I never actually practiced. However, when I shifted my focus to accelerating action, I created a plan. I set aside 30 minutes every day to practice the chords. And guess what? A few weeks later, I could play that song beautifully. So, “Accelerate Action” means making your life more exciting by doing the things you want to do, instead of just thinking about them!

How do you feel the theme “Accelerate Action” is visible in the workplace?

In the workplace, "Accelerate Action" is like hitting the fast-forward button on your to-do list! Instead of spending hours overthinking emails, just send 'em! Instead of waiting for the "perfect moment" to start that big project, jump in and figure it out as you go. It’s like that coworker who doesn't sit on their hands during meetings—they’re already brainstorming, making calls, and solving problems. It’s about cutting through the fluff, not letting distractions slow you down, and getting things DONE! Think of it as turning your workday into a race… but in a good way, where you win by getting things done faster and smarter.

To sum up:

Your life accelerates when you do. The faster you step out of your comfort zone, the faster you’ll see results. Now go out there and make things happen.

“乘势而动,立行立断” is how I will always remember it.
