Job purpose
This Tax Senior role will provide a platform for anyone seeking to broaden their overall technical and advisory skills within a busy, dynamic and growing tax department. The job holder will work with senior team members across the practice to provide tax advisory services and develop solutions for clients across various tax disciplines, with particular focus on employment tax and global mobility matters.
The job holder supports the delivery of Tax assignments and the delivery of high-quality assignments across multiple tax heads and consulting assignments, within the required timescales. The post holder will work alongside supervisors, managers and tax trainees on assignments. This role offers excellent development opportunities with structured coaching and training in employment tax and global mobility specialisms.
Key result areas
- Support project management and delivery of a broad cross sector of assignments with guidance from senior team members.
- Assist with assignment scheduling, planning, staffing and structure under supervision.
- Contribute to assignments and support the planning and staffing requirements as required. Participate in staff briefings on the specific tasks and goals of each assignment.
- Assist when required with tenders and/or fee quotes.
- Support the provision of advice to clients on tax planning opportunities and assist with a variety of consultancy projects under guidance.
- Handle multiple tax assignments concurrently and ensure the most effective and efficient use of time and resources at all times. Seek guidance from immediate manager as required.
- Proactively liaise and build effective working relationships with firm staff in all disciplines (Audit, Company Secretarial etc.) to facilitate and support the Tax Department.
- Support client relationships. Contact, liaise and foster business relationship that develops the client portfolio further.
- Contribute to the delivery of assignments to a high standard of quality, while adhering to allotted timescales, budgets and resource allocation. Ensure all work has clear supporting documentation and rationale.
- Support new business development initiatives and contribute to growth of the firm.
- Be fully conversant and understand the authority levels of this role and those of all relevant stakeholders to ensure full compliance with the Firm's policies, procedures and regulations.
- Participate in day-to-day supervision activities, engage with training needs and on-the-job training opportunities. Receive mentoring from senior staff and fully participate in all Performance Management initiatives as required.
Person specification
Essential knowledge & skills:
- A qualification as a Tax Consultant (AITI CTA) is highly desirable, or significant progress towards AITI qualification with commitment to complete
- Accountant qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) is desirable
- PQE 0-2 years (recently qualified or nearing qualification)
- Strong experience in income tax advisory work, including private client tax planning, tax compliance, and advisory services
- Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated experience in preparing tax advisory reports, client correspondence, and technical documentation
- Proven ability to explain complex tax matters clearly in writing to clients and colleagues
- Strong technical competence in income tax with willingness to develop expertise in employment tax and global mobility
- Proven ability to work on a diverse range of clients across multiple sectors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with appropriate supervision
