About the role

The Corporate Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the completion of corporate finance engagements/projects including M&A transaction support (buy-side and sell-side), debt advisory, corporate structuring and business valuations.

As a manager, you will have a team of newly qualified and part-qualified professionals reporting to you. This requires strong leadership and people management skills. You will report to the Corporate Finance Director and will play an integral role across a broad range of engagements.

Key result areas

  • Manage the completion of Corporate Finance engagements.
  • Lead and manage relevant project teams and workflow plans, delivering high-quality client service within tight timelines.
  • Preparation and review of detailed financial analysis on a range of trading businesses across multiple industries.
  • Provision of thorough reports and outputs for delivery to clients.
  • Attend and present at client meetings, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and counterparties.
  • Participate in transaction and contract negotiation, proactively advising clients and Partners.
  • Supervision and mentoring of junior staff on a day-to-day basis.
  • Managing on-the-job training and mentoring of team, leading Performance Management initiatives.
  • Proactively manage WIP / Debtor Ledger in keeping with the firm’s policies.
  • Be fully conversant and understand the authority levels of this role and those of all relevant stakeholders to ensure full compliance with the Firm’s policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Work alongside Partners to originate new business opportunities. Proactively develop new and existing client portfolios and manage relationships with key intermediaries.

Person specification

Essential knowledge & skills:

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification (0-5 years PQE)
  • deally, you will have experience in a corporate finance role in either practice or industry (outstanding candidates with an audit background will be considered).
  • Highly skilled at financial modelling and analysis.
  • Commercially astute with an analytical mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven Project Management skills and experience.
  • Particularly adept in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Must enjoy managing a wide range of multiple tasks/projects at any one time.

Essential competencies:

  • People Leadership: Proven ability to listen, build rapport, influence, and build relationships & keen to develop career into a more senior management role. Proven experience in supervising trainee accountants.
  • Practice Management: Proven ability to focus on performance, meeting deadlines and producing results. A proven decision maker, evidence of sound judgement and common sense
  • Client Leadership: Displays confidentiality, confidence, agility and affinity with client and sector specialisms.
  • Business Development: A strategic thinker takes ownership of learning, empathy with client needs, seeks way to improve client portfolios. Evidence of enthusiasm and keeps abreast of developments in this sector.
