Job purpose

We are seeking a talented, experienced Audit Manager to join our growing audit team. You will work closely with an Audit Partner to deliver high-quality assurance and accounting assignments to a varied portfolio of dynamic clients and you will manage a team of motivated and capable trainees and qualified accountants.

Key result areas

  1. Managing a diverse and interesting portfolio of assurance clients and ensuring that assurance assignments are planned, executed, reviewed, and completed in a timely manner to an excellent standard.
  2. Managing, mentoring, and motivating trainees and part and fully qualified seniors ensuring that constructive feedback is provided from assignments/reports and fully participating in all Performance Management initiatives as required. Deliver on and off the job training as required. 
  3. Participate and assist when required with tenders and / or fee quotes.
  4. Take ownership of business development opportunities assigned to you. 
  5. Manage assurance assignment planning, scheduling, optimum team composition, WIP, billings, timesheets, recoveries and ensure adherence to our firm’s compliance and regulatory standards.
  6. Assist the partners in the provision of advice to clients and work with partners on a variety of ad-hoc projects as they arise.
  7. Manage client relationships.  Contact, liaise and foster business relationships with your portfolio of clients. 
  8. Participate, as required, in the department strategy.
  9. Proactively liaise and build effective working relationships with firm staff in all disciplines (Audit, Tax, Company Secretarial, Corporate Finance etc.) to facilitate and support the firm.

Person specification

Essential knowledge & skills:

  • A qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with three plus years' relevant practice PQE.
  • Demonstrable understanding of managing a portfolio of clients, the relevant filing deadlines, and successful deadline management.
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively managing direct client communications.
  • Strong commercial sense.
  • Excellent analytical skills, purposeful, proactive and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good practical knowledge and understanding of Irish taxes.
  • Ability to lead and supervise team members and to foster and develop the existing excellent team culture.
  • Experience in using CaseWare would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of Irish GAAP, International Standards on Auditing (Ireland) (ISAs (Ireland)) and Irish company law.
  • Strong excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with clients and provide excellent service.
  • Ability to work on a diverse range of clients across multiple sectors.
  • Proven Project Management skills together with the ability to handle multiple tasks / projects concurrently in a practice environment.
