He also has extensive experience advising on family and shareholder governance issues which includes implementation of structures such as family charters, family constitutions and shareholders agreements. As part of implementing such governance structures, Jonathan has worked with families in navigating this process for the long-term benefits of protecting family wealth and business ownership.

The area of family wealth and business ownership in the Irish market has changed significantly in recent years due to a number of factors including the maturing of Irish family wealth and the transition of ownership/control of such wealth and family businesses to successive generations. As ownership and control of family wealth and businesses is transitioned to the next generation, the issues around how such transitions are managed from a commercial and taxation perspective, as well as how such assets are owned and controlled going forward (particularly where there are multiple owners from the successive generations involved) can become complex, and as such, careful planning is needed to ensure such family assets are protected and maintained for the longer term both for the benefit of the family members themselves and for the business entities they own.

Jonathan also has significant experience in advising professional service firms on establishment and structuring in the Irish market and assisting such firms in managing tax compliance requirements as well as advising on various ongoing matters for such firms.
