John P Ouko
Crowe Infrastructure Africa
John Ouko is an Executive Director at Crowe Infrastructure Africa and based at the firm’s headquarters in Nairobi. While John, as a member of the senior management team, is involved in all of the firm’s consulting services and offerings, he is leading Crowe Infrastructure Africa’s corporate finance and private sector consulting practice.
John has over 20 years of experience in project management, banking and advisory in infrastructure, renewable energy, and banking in Europe and East Africa.
John was a founder of Stimaken SAS, a developer in solar and wind energy, before joining the US based infrastructure private equity firm Everstrong Capital as a Director to set up their office and operations in Nairobi.
He has been leading financial and technical due diligence assignments, financial structuring and negotiations with debt and equity partners for major infrastructure projects in Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa and Uganda – in the road and highway, railway, water and renewable energy sectors.
At BNP Paribas, John was responsible for the business integration of BNL bank’s central transfer agent systems to the head office in France, following the acquisition of BNL by BNP Paribas in 2006.
As Senior Project Director at Société Générale, he was responsible for managing a team of 20 financial experts and technical engineers in France and Morocco.
He also served as Auditor of Crédit Agricole Leasing & Financing in France, responsible for its Interest & Liquidity Risk Rating processes.
John was formerly a member of Vestbound Private Equity Fund (MVest Group) in South Africa and an Advisory Consultant with Technolink Consults in Uganda.
John’s key qualifications include:
Capital raising from private sector investors and development finance institutions, forming strategic alliances with development partners, financial intermediaries and implementation partners;
Bid preparation, feasibility studies, contract and commercial analysis, due diligence, risk assessment, financial modeling, transaction negotiation and advisory services;
Organizational policy formulation, implementation and policy review including management and administration systems, policies and procedures;
Development, implementation and evaluation of short term, medium term and long term strategic and operational plans.
