Armenia Updates Securities Law: New Exception on Disclosure of Service Information
The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia has adopted amendments (second reading) to the Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Securities Market, refining rules on the disclosure of service information.
Key Change
A new clause has been added to Article 98(2), introducing an exception to the general prohibition on disclosing service-related information.
Disclosure is now permitted when:
- It concerns data from the register of securities holders, and
- It is provided to an authorized body within procedures of property expropriation for public interest.
Why It Matters
- Clarity for businesses: Investment service providers better understand when disclosure is lawful.
- Legal alignment: The amendment ensures consistency with the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Alienation of Property for the Needs of Society and the State.
- Reduced risk: Clearly defined exceptions help avoid compliance breaches.
This update strengthens the balance between confidentiality and the practical needs of public interest projects.
