AI-powered Hometax chatbot

The existing chatbot on Hometax, Korea's online tax administration portal, only answers pre-set questions using fixed scripts. The chatbot has been upgraded into a generative AI system, making it capable of providing more interactive assistance and better serving taxpayers.

The upgraded chatbot supports tax filing inquiries and tax incentive applications, enabling taxpayers to access professional tax guidance around the clock without visiting a tax office.

The chatbot was initially launched on May 1, 2026, to support annual individual income tax return filing and applications for the earned income and child tax credits, and the service was subsequently expanded to include value-added tax on July 1, 2026.
