UAE: Global Mobility

 The UAE had recently issued a Cabinet Resolution followed by various procedural changes. The key changes for existing and / or new visas are listed below. 

I.             Golden visa

Applicant categories have been expanded to include certain scientists, professionals, entrepreneurs, property investors, outstanding students and graduates, exceptionally talented individuals, frontline workers 

Validity: 10 years

Sponsor: Not required

II.           Green visa (new)

New residence permit could be applied by an investor or partner engaged / to-be engaged in commercial activities; high level skilled worker and freelance worker

Validity: 5 years

Sponsor: Not required

III.          Visa for study / training (new)

Students / Individuals who seek to pursue courses at UAE universities or attend trainings in the UAE.

Validity: Depending on the purpose (up to 1 year)

Sponsor: Licensed universities / institutes

IV.         Temporary work visa (new)

Eligible to complete a temporary work or project-based assignments 

Validity: Depending on the purpose (up to 1 year)

Sponsor: UAE business entity

V.           Job Opportunity visa (new)

Eligible new graduates / skilled workers can apply to explore job opportunities in the UAE

Validity: Depending on the purpose (up to 1 year)

Sponsor: Not required

VI.         Business visa (new)

Eligible entrepreneurs / investors can apply to explore business opportunities in the UAE

Validity: Depending on the purpose (up to 1 year)

Sponsor: Not required

VII.       Visit visa for relatives & friends (new)

Enables visit of a relative or friend of a UAE citizen and / or resident. Proof of kinship and justifications for the visit would need to be submitted.

Validity: Depending on the purpose (up to 1 year)

Sponsor: Not required

VIII.      Remote working visa

Airbnb and Department of Economy and Tourism introduced the Dubai remote working hub as a one-stop-shop for aspiring remote workers.

Validity: Depending on the purpose (max of 1 year)

Sponsor: Not required
