The Office of Green Transition has presented the results of a study on the readiness of Ukrainian businesses to implement ESG practices.

Global markets, investors, and partners are increasingly making decisions based on ESG indicators. This is no longer just a reputational advantage but a set of concrete requirements for suppliers, employers, financial recipients, and market participants in general.

For Ukrainian companies, this is both a challenge and an opportunity—especially now, as the country is undergoing a period of large-scale transformation: economic, institutional, and energy-related. The ESG approach provides an opportunity not only to meet global expectations but also to build an internal culture of transparency, responsibility, and long-term planning.

The study identified a set of interconnected challenges that hinder ESG transformation in Ukraine. Three-quarters of surveyed companies отмечають insufficient clarity of legislation—both Ukrainian and European—as one of the key barriers. At the same time, nearly as many respondents (77%) point to a lack of qualified personnel as a significant obstacle.

About 71% of companies report a lack of accessible information on implementing standards and ESG reporting. Technological aspects also create substantial difficulties: more than two-thirds (68%) of companies acknowledge challenges in collecting and processing large volumes of data, while 65% are concerned about the need to use specialized software.

AC Crowe Ukraine supports businesses in this transition. We believe that systematic ESG integration is an investment in the future that yields returns through trust, resilience, and growth.
