VAT is a transaction-based tax and therefore independent schools must consider their transactions from a VAT perspective to ensure compliance, avoid unwanted assessments from HMRC and to make savings where possible.

With the possibility of VAT being introduced on independent school fees by the Labour Party, this webinar will help independent schools prepare for this potential change. We will also be joined by David Woodgate, Chief Executive at ISBA, who will be on hand to ask questions on behalf of schools throughout the webinar.

What we will cover

  • When to register for VAT.
  • When to charge VAT.
  • When and how to recover VAT.
  • System updates required.
  • Topical issues such as Making Tax Digital for VAT, overseas agents, supplies of sport, supplies to other eligible bodies and room hire.

Who should attend

The webinar aims to prepare schools for the changes that will ensue should there be a requirement to register for VAT.

  • Individuals in the independent schools sector dealing with VAT.
  • Newly appointed Bursars
  • Independent schools who are not currently registered for VAT will find this particularly helpful.
