Providing the knowledge Trustees need to succeed

While charity trustees may not be involved in the day-to-day running of the organisation, they play an essential role. Providing strategic oversight and often bringing a broader perspective and skillset to support the team in achieving its aims. The economic and political environment remains challenging for the sector and rises in living costs will likely result in a greater demand for services.

We continue to see the importance of workplace culture particularly with the changes to working practices and focus on employee wellbeing post pandemic. Trustees must ensure they are up to date with the latest guidance in order to meet the responsibilities of this rewarding and vital role.

Our Trustee Essentials courses highlight and emphasises the key responsibilities of a charity Trustee, the important current issues for charities and what Trustees need to be focusing on now and in the future.

What we will cover

We’re delighted to be offering our popular courses again virtually. Delivered by specialists in our Non Profit team, the course will retain the unique opportunity for Trustees to engage with one-another and work collaboratively. Once again, the course has been divided up and will take place across four consecutive Friday afternoons.

The four sessions will focus on:

  • Friday 14 October - Part 1: Trustee responsibilities and the board of the future.
  • Friday 21 October - Part 2: Charity accounts, effective reporting and managing reserves.
  • Friday 4 November - Part 3: Risk management as a strategic enabler for charities.
  • Friday 11 November - Part 4: Emerging issues – what’s on the horizon?

There is no cost to attend this event.

Attendee testimonial

“I am going to take on my first trustee role and so this has been really useful to understand the responsibilities of trustees and the issues we need to grapple with, and also to consider how I might ensure I am adding value at the right level as I step into a trustee role ".
