Making Tax Digital for Housing Associations

For most Housing Associations (HAs) the June 2021 VAT return will be the first submitted under the full requirements of Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT.

In this webinar we will provide an update on the latest position, incorporating all of the new information that has been issued by HMRC. We will focus on practical issues and practical actions that HAs are facing now MTD is in full effect.

What we will cover

We will guide you through the must-do actions, as well as providing practical examples and advice on meeting the challenges of MTD.

  • It is particularly important to be compliant from the start of the ‘hard landing’ period as HMRC has announced penalties will be likely.
  • A single break in your ‘digital links’ will mean you’re not compliant.
  • If you aren’t sure if your systems will be compliant under the full rules then now is the time to check.
  • Practical examples on partial exemption calculations, non-social housing income, and other common problem areas.
  • Examples provided by HMRC directly that show their understanding of what being MTD compliant means.
  • The areas where HAs are struggling to link data correctly – ensure your organisation is catching these tricky items.
  • HAs’ experience of submitting returns using MTD-compatible software.
  • A chance to ask questions and receive practical solutions.
