There is heightened public interest worldwide in the role of Non Profit Organisations. Good governance, effective risk management and honest performance reporting are not optional extras. Transparency and accountability and appropriate culture and behaviour are a must in a challenging funding landscape and sustainability is a critical concern for all.

What we will cover

This conference seeks to address some of these challenges and we will focus on:

  • Governance, risk management, performance measurement , safeguarding and other critical success factors facing NGOs and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) as they pursue sustainability and donor funding
  • The changing funding landscape, a panel of selected funders will share with participants where and how they are focusing their attention and funds.
  • Sustainability challenges facing NGOs and CSOs
  • Country experts from Botswana, DRC , South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, will discuss emerging issues and key legal and fiscal matters

Key note speaker

Pesh Framjee

Pesh Framjee is the Partner leading the International Not For Profit Group at Crowe Global, a role he previously carried out at Deloitte and Arthur Andersen. Pesh is a Chartered Accountant working in the UK with Crowe UK which has been recognised by independent surveys as the leading provider of audit and related services to charities for ten consecutive years.

Pesh writes and lectures internationally on matters facing NGOs and Civil Society. Pesh works with NGOs around the world and therefore understands the different contexts -He is an acknowledged expert in the field and a thought leader in areas of financial management, financial reporting, effective governance, strategy and risk management and performance measurement. He will share global insights and discuss best practice that can be applied across the region. He will focus on good governance, effective risk management and insightful performance measurement. He is a board member of a number of NGOs and will also discuss the balance between local empowerment and accountability for INGOs.

Other speakers at the conference shall be drawn from key organisations such as NANGO, The African Capacity Building Foundation, SANGOnetand others.
Country specialists from Botswana, DRC , South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, will advise on taxation, legislation and other practices specific to their countries as well as guidance on cross-border activities.
