Making tax digital

HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT is expected to be the most fundamental change to the tax administration system in 20 years. Changes will mean that organisations with a taxable turnover above the VAT registration threshold will have to:

  • keep their VAT records digitally
  • submit their VAT data to HMRC through compatible software, not through the HMRC online portal.

For almost all businesses, the rules will mean a change to the way the VAT return is compiled and submitted. With less than 100 days to go this practical seminar will dispel some of the myths surrounding MTD. It will also outline what businesses must do to comply with the rules from 1 April 2019.

What we will cover

  • what is MTD and what is changing?
  • do I qualify for deferment?
  • what information do I need to submit digitally under Phase One?
  • do I need to upgrade my accounting software?
  • what alternative solutions are on the market?
  • what about under Phase Two?
  • what can I do to prepare?
  • as well as a number of practical hints and tips.

This event will be of value to anyone who has an interest in or responsibility for MTD.
