Although intended and used primarily as personal communication channels, social media sites are beginning to affect companies in a significant way. There are many aspects for companies to consider when building social media risk management programs.
Many companies have inserted themselves directly into the channel, using a social media site to build brand awareness, customer loyalty, employee loyalty, and to communicate information to customers, partners, and prospects. But even if your organization has made the decision to stay out of the game formally, your employees, former employees, partners, and customers may be putting the word out about you on social networks every day.
