Tax Compliance Manager

Location: Dublin, but hybrid/remote working available

Crowe Ireland’s tax department comprises 30 people spread into two teams each headed by two tax partners. Each team provide tax services across all tax heads, but supported by internal specialists in VAT, employment taxes and CAT. While the majority of staff provide tax advice across all tax heads each member is supported if they have a specific interest in developing advisory skills in a particular area of tax.  

Due to the transfer of a substantial tax compliance portfolio to the department as a result of mergers we are recruiting for the newly developed role of Tax Compliance Manager / Assistant Manager for each of the aforementioned teams.  

This Tax Compliance Manager role will provide a unique opportunity at the mid-tier level to develop one’s career in a purely Tax Compliance position within a busy, dynamic and growing tax department. 

The core work ethic of the team is that the department adopts a collaborative and supportive work atmosphere, this is best described as a “cylindrical” approach where the contribution of each team member in developing excellent client service is recognised and rewarded.

This Tax Compliance Manager will work closely with the two partners within their team. They will have a mix of compliance clients across multiple tax heads. They will have access to a pool of trainees within their assigned teams who will offer support in preparing tax returns. Our offices are based in Dublin. However we envisage this role may suit someone looking to work hybrid / remotely.   

The role is ideally suited to an individual with 3-5 years PQE looking for career progression within a fast paced, growing tax department.

Key result areas

  1. Co-ordinate and schedule a substantial portfolio of tax compliance assignments and supervise junior team members as required.
  2. Management and oversight of working capital management objectives to include regular review of WIP and timely raising of fees.
  3. Manage client relationships. Contact, liaise and foster business relationship that develops the client portfolio further.
  4. Manage the day-to-day supervision of junior staff, ensure the training needs and on-the-job training are met. Mentor junior staff allocated to assignments and participate in Performance Management initiatives as required.

Essential knowledge and skills

  • A qualification as a Tax Consultant (AITI CTA) is essential and Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Ideally working in an Irish practice (either currently or within the last 2-3 years)
  • Strong record on providing tax compliance services
  • Exceptional organisational skills and flexibility in approach
  • Strong communication and client handling skills
