Consultant - Advisory

Location: Dublin 2 (with significant element of home/remote working anticipated)

Job purpose

Crowe is a leading business advisory and accountancy firm, ranking among the top 10 firms in Ireland. Working in a team of senior professionals, the work is a mixture of project management and coordination, long-term advisory engagements and short-term (3-6 months) projects.

The post holder’s principal responsibility will be to support consultancy activity within the Advisory team, principally in relation to Risk Consulting and Internal Audit.

The post-holder will also assist with and be responsible for the effective delivery of a wide and varied range of high-quality assignments and projects, from data gathering, through analysis and evaluation, to draft report stage, within the required timescales.

Key result areas

  1. Assist with the delivery of a broad range of assignments of a complex/ad-hoc and often non-financial nature, as well as more routine engagements.
  2. Participation in consulting assignments from inception to final delivery, ranging from tender preparation, fact-finding and interviewing, through problem analysis and solution development, to report-writing and presentation of findings/recommendations.
  3. Delivery of project outputs (reports, presentations, training programmes etc.) to ensure they are delivered to the client’s satisfaction, on time and on budget to an acceptable standard of quality.
  4. Proactively work with project teams, external consultants, and other resources as required.
  5. Be actively involved in a business development portfolio which will comprise an agreed mix of current and new clients, including drafting of proposals and tenders for projects. Proactively pitch for new business and drive growth of the firm.
  6. Manage client relationships. Maintain contact and liaise with the firm’s clients, and foster business relationships that develop the firm’s client portfolio further.
  7. Delivery of assignments to a high standard of quality, while adhering to allotted timescales, budgets and resource allocation.
  8. Liaise closely and build effective working relationships with client staff in all disciplines (both financial and non-financial) to facilitate and support the process.
  9. Ensure that the Associate Director and senior colleagues are appropriately briefed at all times to include significant issues on the work being undertaken and any performance problems. 
  10. Be fully conversant with and understand the authority levels of the role to ensure full compliance with Crowe’s policies, procedures and regulations.
  11. Engage fully with on-the-job training and fully participate in all Performance Management initiatives as required.

Person specification

Essential knowledge and skills:

  • A relevant 3rd level qualification
  • 1-2 years’ relevant experience in a consulting role or equivalent
  • Demonstrable interest in consulting in the Government and not-for-profit sectors and awareness of topical issues
  • Particular interest in or experience with risk consulting, governance review, process review, and/or internal audit
  • Proven ability to work in a team orientated environment 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in excel and skilled in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a highly qualified team orientated environment 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – especially in Report Writing and PPT Presentation
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and manage complex competing priorities and deadlines
