Assistant Manager, Risk Consulting

Base: 40 Mespil Road, Dublin 4, D04 C2N4 (with significant element of home/remote working anticipated)

Job purpose

The post holder will contribute to or lead the delivery of Consulting and Internal Audit assignments and be responsible for the effective delivery of high-quality assignments (both financial and non-financial in nature) to fieldwork completion and draft report stage, within the required timescale.

The post holder will also supervise and direct junior auditors during audit assignments.

Key result areas

  1. Contribute to the delivery of a broad range of Internal Audit and Consulting assignments of a complex/ad-hoc and often non-financial nature, as well as leading more routine engagements.
  2. Obtain robust information and data from a range of client systems, and through interviews with key client staff, and perform detailed review of the data to inform overall analysis and evaluation within each engagement.
  3. Contribute to the development of high-quality, value-adding reports that include clear conclusions and practical recommendations to address all issues and opportunities for improvement identified during the assignment, with a clear supporting rationale.
  4. Plan own workload effectively and ensure that tasks are completed to high standards of quality and within agreed timescales.
  5. Liaise closely and build effective working relationships with client staff in all disciplines (both financial and non-financial) to facilitate and support the completion of engagements.
  6. Conduct effective discussions with finance and operational staff regarding the delivery of assignments.
  7. Ensure the Director and managers are appropriately briefed at all times to include significant issues on the work being undertaken and any performance problems.
  8. Deliver Internal Audit and Consulting assignments to a high standard of quality, ensuring conformance with relevant professional and ISO standards, addressing key issues effectively and adhering to allotted timescales and resource allocation.
  9. Be fully conversant and understand the authority levels of this role and those of all relevant stakeholders to ensure full compliance with the firm's policies, procedures and regulations.
  10. Help manage the day-to-day supervision, on-the-job training and mentoring of junior staff allocated to audit assignments and fully participate in all Performance Management initiatives as required.
  11. Contribute to business development activity (e.g. preparation of proposals, sales presentations, networking).

Person specification

Essential knowledge & skills:

  • One year of post-qualification experience as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in Risk Consulting/Internal Audit work.
  • Project management skills, plus the proven ability to handle multiple tasks/projects at any one time.
  • Demonstrable understanding of internal audit, risk management methods and techniques and awareness of topical issues.
  • Sound knowledge of success factors in delivering internal audit assignments.
  • Proven ability to work in a highly qualified, team-orientated environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
