No one wants to believe that fraud occurs in their organization and certainly not within the institutions looking to serve the health needs of the public. But the reality is that according to the 2018 ACFE Report to the Nations, healthcare ranks fourth by industry for occupational fraud cases reported (most prevalent in the areas of corruption and billing). The reality is not if, but when your team will have to deal with a fraud case. And the question you need to answer is “are we prepared to manage the situation.” During this session, we’ll examine the current state of fraud cases within the healthcare arena, what schemes and issues leaders need to be on the lookout for in the years ahead, and the initial steps organizations need to take when fraud is suspected.

By attending this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Articulate key risks in the areas of document collection and the chain of custody
  • Identify leading practices for fraud management/investigations and determine gaps in your current plans that may need to be addressed
  • Communicate with senior leadership and the board the importance of fraud investigation exercises and testing
  • Recognize the impact fraud cases can have on the institution’s internal and external reputation

Having a tested plan in place and the right experts on speed-dial is critical to the success of a fraud investigation. From who in the organization to engage with, how and when to conduct interviews, and how to manage physical and electronic records, is your staff ready for the challenge – or more importantly, can they work it into their already packed day. Go beyond your fraud tip line and prepare for when the phone rings and how you will respond.
