Professionals from across the entire Risk Consulting business unit gathered in St. Charles, Ill. last month for the inaugural Crowe Risk Consulting Summit. This new event combined the best practices of the former Risk Training Week and the former CHAN Healthcare Annual Conference. More than 940 attendees from 10 countries, including Risk’s international offices in Canada, France and the UK and guests from Crowe International offices, took part in the week-long event. Each day commenced with an industry speaker from Crowe’s client base who shared insight from his or her respective field. More than 210 education sessions were offered over the course of the week covering core business skills, technical training and industry topics. Below are some highlights:
- FY17 priorities: Risk Managing Partner Steve Strammello (Indianapolis) welcomed everyone and shared his focus on FY17 (April 2016 – March 2016) priorities for the business unit. He was also joined by CHAN CEO Sarah Cole (St. Louis) who focused on the benefits of working together as One Crowe and Crowe CEO Jim Powers (Indianapolis) who spoke about Risk’s role in Crowe’s success.
- Keynote speaker: Chris McChesney, best-selling author and global practice leader for Franklin Covey, discussed the “4 Disciplines of Execution,” a strategy for accountable productivity in the midst of distraction.
- Community service: Aligning with the firm's values, participants took part in a community service activity building nearly 100 bikes to be donated to needy children of the greater Chicagoland area through the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin. They were divided into teams and completed puzzles and challenges in order to earn bike parts and tools necessary to assemble the bikes.
- Innovation: The week also included a Crowe Risk Consulting Innovation Summit. The overall goal was to support innovation through a variety of breakout sessions participants could choose from based on suggestions received from attendees.
