Rachel Shaw Callahan (Oak Brook) feels it is important we build a culture where every person at Crowe is comfortable being their authentic self at work and truly feels they belong at Crowe. It’s one of the reasons she joined thePride Business Resource Group as an ally. “I wanted to show my support for our LGBTQ+ co-workers and to encourage others to do the same,” said Rachel, people operations lead for our Consulting Business Unit. “Sometimes an ally’s voice and their actions can influence others to see the importance of supporting people as well as helping people understand how to expand their mindsets in order to be more inclusive leaders.” In October 2019, Rachel attended her first Out & Equal conference. “The conference inspired me to help further diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging efforts across the firm.” Said Rachel. “Allowing people to be truly happy and comfortable in the workplace is my life’s work.” Today, she’s co-lead of the Pride Business Resource Group (BRG), along with Eric Russell (Columbus). As a co-lead, Rachel coordinates and leads monthly meetings, drives the Pride BRG’s mission and strategic goals and consults with firm leadership on DE&I initiatives and belonging efforts. Through her work, Rachel hopes to inspire others to be allies at Crowe and in their communities. “By listening, learning, standing up for injustice and teaching others to respect and be kind to each other, we can all advance diversity, equity, and inclusion at Crowe and in our communities.”
